This AU is based on the Teen Titans animated series (Cartoon Network, 2003), but in this version of the story, Raven wasn't able to fully defeat Trigon.
With the help of her mother and the support of the other Teen Titans, the demon could be banned from earth and sealed away in another realm by performing a powerful ritual, but Raven is well aware that he may find a way to return. She was determind to sacrifice herself during this ritual to prevent Trigon's invasion, but her mother Arella stepped in at the last moment and used her own energy to banish the demon and save her daughter.
Arella's fortune is unclear but she is most likely either dead or sealed away with Trigon in his interdimensional prison.
Ever since the Titan's last battle against her demonic father, Raven is haunted by severe nightmares. Almost every night she has to experience how her friends and herself had to suffer under her father again and again.
His influence on Raven has noticeably decreased, but she is still struggling with her demonic heritage. She tries to blend in but with the constant fear that one day her emotions may regain the upper hand again and awake the darkness inside her. And eventhough it was her father who caused all that pain, she somehow feels guilty for what her friends had to go through. She feels that they only had to suffer because they were her friends.
These feelings finally caused her to leave the Titans. Raven ended her relationship with Beast Boy and moved to Gotham City, the hometown of her mother. There she tried to live a normal life, so she started to study literature and history at Gotham City University.
But soon the urge to use her powers to help people grew stronger and stronger and so she finally became one of the vigilantes protecting Gotham City every night.
